How do I back up my log?

Settings ▸ Backup ▸ save the backup file. It is one file holding everything, including your photos and voice notes, and it opens in the web app and the iPhone app alike. Keep it wherever you keep important files.

I'm changing phone. How do I take everything with me?

Settings ▸ Google sync ▸ Changing phone? Move your data lists the ways, best first:

• Google sync. On the old phone tap Sync now and wait for the green tick, then Disconnect Google. On the new phone install CarLog and connect the same Gmail. Everything comes back; photos download as you open them.
• Delete the app without disconnecting. Sync first, then remove the app, then connect the same Gmail on the new phone.
• The backup file. No Google needed — save the file on the old phone, open it on the new one.

Whichever way you use, connect the same Gmail, or you start a separate log.

What can the app see in my Google Drive?

Only the files it put there itself. It asks for one permission, drive.file, which does not allow it to read, list or touch anything else in your Drive. Full detail is in the privacy policy.

My entries came across but the photos are blank

Photos are fetched when you first open them, not all at once, so a brand-new phone starts with placeholders. Open a photo while online and it downloads. If one never arrives, it was probably deleted from the Drive folder — a photo that is on no device and not in Drive is gone for good.

Can I use it without Google at all?

Yes. Everything works signed out: the log, reminders, specs, photos, voice notes, and the backup file. Google is only there if you want the same log on more than one device.

How do I delete everything?

Settings ▸ Erase all data on this device. If you used sync, also delete the Maples CarLog folder in your own Google Drive. We hold nothing, so there is nothing to ask us to delete.

Where does it run?

In a browser on iPhone, Android and a computer — add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app. An iPhone app is in development.

How do I get in?

CarLog is being tested with a small group. If someone told you about it, ask them for the link.
